We understand that choosing services within a Self-Direction framework can feel complex. Below are answers to some of the most common questions about The Aspire Project, our model, and how participation works.
Our model is fundamentally different. We avoid all institutional markers by emphasizing:
1) Open Enrollment & A La Carte Services:
Participants select specific, classes day classes from a menu to build a custom schedule.
2) Authentic Community Integration:
Our primary site is a public-facing business, not a segregated center.
3) Clear Service Separation:
We maintain a separation in billing for skill-building, recreation, and transportation to ensure full compliance and transparency.
To ensure a consistent and impactful experience, enrollment in The Aspire Project is based on a minimum attendance commitment of three days per week. This foundational requirement is essential for building a predictable routine, fostering deep community connections, and making significant progress toward Life Plan goals.
While this is an enrollment prerequisite, we work with each participant to design a flexible schedule, selecting the specific days and services that best align with their personal preferences.
The Aspire Project operates as a community vendor and does not provide daily transportation. This empowers participants to use their Self-Direction budget to arrange transportation that best suits their needs, promoting independence.
The cost of daily transport (e.g., via Uber, Access-A-Ride, or a car service) to and from our sites is a standard and approvable use of a participant’s Individual Directed Goods and Services (IDGS) funds, which your Support Broker can help you budget for.
Our entire team is committed to the highest standings of therapuetic interactions, client safety and professionalism. All staff are trained as NYS Mandated Reporters through the Justice Center and hold current certifications in First Aid & CPR.
Furthermore, our facilitators who lead Self-Direction and self-advocacy workshops are broker-trained, ensuring expert guidance rooted in the principles of the OPWDD system.
All services are provided on an a la carte, fee-for-service basis. Billing is based solely on actual, documented attendance in selected services.
We do not offer all-inclusive weekly or monthly fees, ensuring transparency and alignment with Self-Direction principles.
The Aspire Project is open to adults 18 years and older, including individuals with and without disabilities, who are interested in meaningful community engagement, skill development, and personal growth.
Participation requires a commitment to respect, openness, and personal responsibility within a supportive community environment.
